We concentrated on the image of water for the design of latest Bento store in Jacksonville. We were particularly inspired by the sculptural forms of kidney shaped swimming pools that became a symbol a “good life” in the 1950s and 1960s. These pools have an optimistic association that often conjures images of sunshine and outdoor life; moods and feelings that wanted to capture in the design of the interior. The curvalinear forms we studied directly influenced our approach to the interior geometry of the space. The materials we selected play to this theme with contrasts in transparency, color, and reflectivity.
